1914 first edition the modern gas tractor its construction, utility, operation and repair by victor w. Page, m. E. No reserve! A practical treatise defining every branch of up-to-date gas tractor engineering, driving and maintenance in a non-technical manner.
Considers fully all types of power plants and their components, methods of drive and speed changing mechanisms. Describes design and construction of all parts, their installation and adjustment as well as practical application of tractors in the field.
Invaluable to the student, farmer, machinist, blacksmith, implement dealer, rancher and all others wishing reliable information on gas motor propelled traction engines and their use. Hardcover book is 475 pages long. Features 204 blakc and white illustrations and folding plates. Chapters discuss scope, advantages and applications of power traction, making and exploding the gas, driving and housing the traction engine, cooling and lubricating the power plant, traction engine troubles and their elimination, and much more! Binding is shaken, front hinge is cracked, rear hinge is fine. The covers and spine are lightly to moderately rubbed, with some fiant scattered soiling and light fraying to the corners and spine ends. Pictorial cover remains in excellent condition, and the spine gilt is only lightly faded. There are no loose, torn or missing apges that i saw, with the exception of a 1/2 closed end tear to one fold outs as the fold edge attatches to the hinge. The interior si very clean. Overall, thsi book is in very good condition! As with any book this old, some ageing and minor miperfections should be expected, as well as the possibility of unobtrusive prior owner's notations, inventory control numbers and / or signatures. With the cost of gasoline being what it is these days, it costs me over $5.00 in gas and wear and tear on the car alone to make the special trip to the post office that is required because of customs forms, not to mention the additional time (usually an additional hour or more, round trip). Also, several times i have taken the packages for out-of-country shipment to the post office, only to be told that the postage was more than what was charged by the ebay calculator and more than what was quoted by their own usps online calculator. Another consideration is the cost of packing materials (tape, packing foam, etc. ).
